(inaudible) everyone, Snoopy-san, it’s been a while! It’s D-LITE. Please listen to my song, SHUT UP.
SHUT UP plays
MC: Let’s welcome our guest for today. It’s really really been a long time (since I last saw him) and when I tried counting (the years) since we last met, I realized it’s been almost 7 years since I last saw him. It’s really been a long time. Please greet our listeners~!
DS: Yes! Everyone, I haven’t seen you all in 7 years.. (laughs) (MC laughs) It’s D-LITE!! Yayyy~~
MC: There’s a photo in front of me right now… there are many many more photos but I chose this one and brought it today but is it nostalgic? (laughs)
DS: It’s nostalgic! The fact that you have held onto this photo all this time is… is.. (I think he starts to say ‘makes me happy’ ;) )
MC: …amazing right? haha
DS: Yes.. I’m really moved~
MC: I’ll treasure it~
DS: Thank you.
MC: The photo D-LITE kun is holding was taken, really, about the first time (D-LITE) came to Japan after their (I assume BIGBANG) first fan event or something…
DS: Yes, during our indies… I think…
MC: Oh right, during the indies
DS: Ahhhh (laughing)
MC: Mmmm~~ Actually, I brought the photo from when you came to our event as a guest, as well…
MC: So nostalgic, right? (laughs)
DS: Haa… yes…
MC: I’ll upload these photos on the blog later so if fans can check it out later and imagine us chatting while looking at these photos but…
DS: You’re gonna upload it?
MC: Let’s upload it!
DS: I don’t think that’s a good idea… (MC & Daesung laughs)
MC: It’s cute~!!
DS: Ahh……. (voice fades LOL)
MC: Moving on! The promotion for this time is your promotion for the solo album!
DS: Yes, it is.
MC: Yes, it’s your first solo album but how do you feel about it, holding it (the album) now?
DS: Yes… hmm.. since it’s my first… my first solo album…
MC: Oh I see…
DS: …I’m really happy, and… mmm….
MC: The cover is really handsome! Mosshisoyo~ (“It’s handsome” in Koreanㅋㅋ)
DS: (laughs) I can’t look at the cover because I’m too embarrassed (laughs)
MC: Previously, last year was a cover (album) right?
DS: Yes, last year
MC: Since the cover album was in Japanese, it must have been really difficult but… the songs you chose made me think, “wow! He chose these songs~!!” and was refreshing.
DS: Ah yes.. thank you.
MC: And this time, you’re also the producer, right?
DS: (laughs) It’s embarrassing, but yes, that’s true.
MC: So what does a producer do, exactly?
DS: I didn’t do annnnyyythinggg hahaha (MC laughs)
MC: You were just there!
DS: When I realized it, people were calling me the ‘producer.’
MC: But you (chose) the songs, how to sing them…
DS: Yes, when we worked, I created a clear image of each song and worked to express this image, so I think that’s why… I was called “producer.”
MC: That’s a producer too.
DS: But it’s a little embarrassing.
MC: You didn’t have to think up of what to pack for lunch? Deciding what to eat for lunch is also a producer’s job, no? haha
DS: Oh really? haha
MC: Anyways, D-LITE kun has a reputation for being a wonderful singer, right?
DS: Oh is that true? Thank you.
MC: Mmhmm. This time I felt like you were great at singing, of course, but in addition, you seemed really relaxed and enjoying the music — that’s what I felt.
DS: Yes, that might be true. I have always been sort of… afraid of singing… I’m always worried to sing.
DS: mm… yes, really. It’s really difficult (for me) to project my voice but with this album, I really had fun… the keyword this time is ‘rock’… and I had so much fun working (on this album) so I think you can feel that (from the songs).
MC: Yes that’s true. The keyword was ‘rock’?
DS: Yes, that’s right.
MC: What kind of rock music do you like?
DS: The term ‘rock’ can refer to the genre as well but it can also mean ‘to have fun,’ right?
MC: Ah, that’s true.
DS: I think you can tell if you listen to this album but it includes many genres, right?
DS: If I listen to the song and feel like I can have fun singing the song, I will sing it (include it in the album).
MC: Apart from the genre, I thought your strength was ‘Nalba Gwisun’? You can sing this genre well, right?
DS: mm, yes that’s true haha
MC: Trot music!
DS: Yes, my parents really like trot music, so I listened to it since I was a child.
MC: Your debut solo song was also a trot song, right?
DS: Yes! It was this song~
MC: Oh was it this song?
DS: Yes! The Korean version of this song.
MC: …and you sang it at your live performances often, right?
DS: Yes~ Last year when I came out with my D’scover album and tour, I sang this song in Korean…
MC: Ah, yes yes, I listened to it.
DS: …yes.. and fans were so enthusiastic to hear it that I definitely felt like I wanted to make a Japanese version…
MC: The Japanese matches perfectly! (laughs)
DS: (laughs) The lyrics are great, right?
MC: You just can’t help but laugh and it just becomes so fun~
DS: Yea that’s true, I can’t help but laugh when I’m singing it too (MC and Daesung laughs) Why does (the lyrics) suddenly mention pajamas… (laughs)
MC: (laughs) right? But it’s a really fun, great song that is enjoyable during live concerts. You also have new songs created for Japan (for his Japanese promotion) in this solo album, right?
DS: mm, yes. The songs are called “Rainy Rainy” and “Dress.”
MC: How are these songs? You’re really singing straight from Japanese, right? (As in, there was no original Korean version that he could build a basis from)
DS: Yes, with these two songs… I created the other songs in Korea but (with these two songs) I worked with a Japanese composer.
MC: You have to come up with a story too, right?
DS: Yes — these songs’ keywords were ‘Rainy Rainy’ and ‘Dress’ but since I really liked the keywords and the story behind the songs, I just (changed) a little bit of the lyrics while trying not to destroy the original image.
MC: How did you want to create “Rainy Rainy“‘s image?
DS: Ah… with “Rainy Rainy”… with “Rainy Rainy” and “Dress,” I could imagine myself singing them on stage.
MC: Ah, you could see yourself singing (the songs).
DS: mmm, and I could feel a sense of unity in the songs.
MC: Ah I see. Actually, you already completed your solo tour but it was a long (tour), right?
DS: Yes, that’s true.
MC: The final concerts were at Budokan for 2 days and Osaka-jyo Hall for 2 days — what is D-LITE’s solo concert’s live performance like?
DS: What kind of live performance..? (laughs)
MC: I have an impression that it’s a concert where everyone is laughing and it’s just a lot of fun.
DS: That’s true — when I’m planning my solo tour, the thing I value the most is that everyone can enjoy it together, and everyone can come together… mm… like a festival (I think he tried to say ‘fes’ which is short for ‘festival’ in Japanese… but mispronounced it..?). mm, that’s the kind of concert I want to create.
MC: Ahh… (fans) can’t go alone? haha
DS: Coming alone is totally OK too!
MC: mmm, you can enjoy it alone or with a lot of people.
DS: Yes, they can come as a family or as a couple or alone… and when you come, the fans next to you are strangers, right?
DS: But by the time you go home, you’re all friendly and…
MC: …and hold hands? haha
DS: …yes, and you can go home (with friends)… I’m working hard to create this (kind of concert).
MC: I suddenly remembered, but previously, you didn’t speak this much Japanese, right? You were trying so hard… but now, your (Japanese is) so amazing! I was just talking to you normally and didn’t even realize it but…
DS: …no, I still have a long way to go~
MC: …wow… I really feel the 7 years time gap now~! (laughs)
DS: Yes (laughs) Time passes by so fast~ (laughs)
MC: Time passes by so fast but your Japanese is so amazing~~~
DS: It’s hard~
DS: Yes… the more I study, the more terms I have to memorize…
MC: Are there times where you forget some (Japanese) when you go home to Korea for a while?
DS: I forget everything!! (MC and Daesung laughs)
MC: Then do you re-remember it when you come back (to Japan) and meet with people you know?
DS: Yes, my manager is always by my side and writes out (the translation?) for me…
MC: But the fact that you can listen (to Japanese) and respond immediately is amazing.
DS: Thank you.
MC: I really felt your determination. Next, let’s ask you about the title (of the album)!
MC: “D’slove” — “D” “s” “love.” “D” is “D” for “D” right? (….this MC lolol)
DS: Yes, it’s D. There’s no meaning. (MC and Daesung laughs)
MC: “D” because it’s “D” therefore it’s “D’slove.”
DS: Yes… (laughs)
MC: …and it’s ‘love’ right?
DS: Yes, it’s ‘love’
MC: What is ‘love’? (laughs)
DS: What is ‘love’…? Love is… person… person… it’s the strongest and the most important emotion in a person’s life, right? Up until now, I have never had a moment in my life where I was without love so…
MC: mm.. love in many different forms, right?
DS: mm.. yes… I am explaining the many different forms of love I have felt until now.
MC: Ahh, I see. It’s an album filled with love, yes?
DS: Y… ye… ye ye yeesss (MC laughs) And this time, I did I little bit of lyric-writing but all of it is about love.
MC: When you write the lyrics, you write it first in Korean…?
MC: …then you discuss with everyone how to turn it into Japanese?
DS: Yes, I write it in Korean then hand it over to the Japanese lyricist (laughs)
MC: (laughs) Because you’re the producer, right? “Here, please take care of the rest for me~~!” (MC and Daesung laughs) How do you normally write the lyrics? Do you have a notebook of sorts? Do you write it down as memos?
DS: Yes, I write memos in my phone…
MC: Oh right nowadays (people use) their phones, not memo pads (laughs)
DS: (laughing) Sorry
MC: (laughing) So you take memos with your phone…
DS: (laughing) Yess
MC: …when you’re struck (with inspiration) you write it?
DS: Yes, I jot down memos.
MC: …like good phrases..?
DS: mm, yes good phrases and lyrics…
MC: …and you work on all of it as soon as you get home?
DS: Yes, and for example, I’ll take the keywords or terms and think up a story at home… that’s how I write the lyrics.
MC: Next time it might be interesting to try writing (the lyrics) straight from Japanese.
DS: Ahhh… really? hahahaha
DS: That… I’ll do it one day haha
MC: Your next step..? haha
DS: Yes, that, yes.
MC: …something like that…
MC: …maybe spend 1 year on the process… I wish you will do it (in the future). Anyways, sorry but to go back on topic about the tour, the tour merchandise is also cute.
DS: Ahh, thank you.
MC: It makes me want them!
DS: Really? (laughs)
MC: The thumb-kun? (She said thumb not D-kun so…)
MC: …with your thumb… Is this a light..?
DS: D…. it’s not a light.
MC: It doesn’t light up?
DS: It does!
MC: It does!? That’s nice then!
DS: Quite! mm
MC: Woww~ and it’s even cute. I also wanted to ask, what is “Satsumai-to”? (Daesung snort laughs) Instead of “satsumai-mo (“sweet potato” in Japanese)” it’s “satsumai-to.”
DS: It’s because (I’m) D-LITE. (laughs)
MC: Why? (laughs) To-kun?
MC: But this is sweet potato?
DS: Yes, it’s sweet potato! But since it’s sweet potato that D-LITE likes, it’s…
MC & DS: …satsumai-to
DS: There’s no particular meaning to it.
MC: Well… if people are your fans they will understand.
DS: Yes that’s true~. (We) slightly changed the names (of the merchandise).
MC: Yes I see~ The thumb-kun still interests me but anyways, you finished your tour! You released your album! What kind of plans do you have for this summer?
DS: Ah, for summer… uhhhhh…. on August 29 there’s a-nation…
MC: Oh right right, you have a-nation.
DS: …it’s really been a while but I will preform as a part of BIGBANG…
MC: Oh as BIGBANG! Wow~
DS: Yes, we’re preparing that.
MC: What about as a solo artist?
DS: As a solo artist… probably (there’ll be plans) in the fall.
MC: Fall? mm..
DS: Yes, in the fall. (I’m) thinking of a new plan.
MC: mmm, so you’ll be busy for the rest of the year.
DS: Yes, must work when I have the chance… (laughs)
MC: (laughs) Let’s not go there! (Note *1)
MC: But don’t you have a break like a summer vacation - what do you want to do?
DS: If I had a summer vacation~..?
MC: I don’t even know if artists get a ‘summer vacation’ but (laughs)
DS: Ah but if it was summer vacation, I’d want to go to Hokkaido~ (laughs)
MC: Ah, Hokkaido! There’s a lot of footage of Hokkaido (in the DVD).
MC: I watched it. You looked so happy. You look the happiest when you’re eating.
DS: I’m super happy. (MC laughs) I’m the most happy haha
MC: Do you like Hokkaido the most?
DS: In the summer… because I don’t like the heat…
MC: What is the equivalent of Hokkaido in Korea?
MC: …there is none?
DS: …maybe Kanodo? (spelling?)…
MC: mmm.. Kanodo I see. So if you had even just 1 or 2 days, (you’d want to go to) Hokkaido!
DS: Yes, Hokkaido… I really like seafood to begin with… (MC laughs) Hokkaido has really good produce so… no matter where I go, everything is delicious.
MC: If you went to Hokkaido and were told, “you can only eat one item…”
DS: (instantly answers) Sea urchin!! (MC and Daesung laughs)
MC: Such a fast answer!
DS: Yes, sea urchin!
MC: You’re ok eating with sea urchin? There are some people who don’t like sea urchin.
DS: Are there?
MC: Yes, there are~
DS: If only they knew sea urchin’s great qualities…
DS: You know of the sea urchin bowl, right? The sea urchin bowl just melts (in your mouth)
MC: Yes~ if you eat it at Hokkaido, yes~
DS: You can eat it even if you don’t have teeth! (MC and Daesung laughs)
MC: You can eat it even if you’re a grandpa!
MC: But sea urchin from Hokkaido, right?
DS: Yes, even the color is different!
DS: Yes yes, it really is
MC: If you have the chance to go even for 1 day, please go and eat sea urchin~ Today we welcomed D-LITE san after such a really long time! Thank you so much!
DS: Oh it’s already over?
MC: Yes, it’s over already~
DS: So lonely ;_;
MC: Let’s meet again!
DS: Yes maybe 7 years later (MC and Daesung laughs)
MC: In 7 years!! haha OK, thank you~
DS: Yes! Thank you very much.
Narration: How was D-LITE kun’s interview? He’s such a smart person, right? He is fluent in so many languages and again, I felt that his strengths are not just the fact that he excels at Japanese. We are planning to have SOL kun’s interview soon as well so BIGBANG fans, please look forward to it. Please listen to D-LITE kun’s fun song from D’slove, ‘Nalba Gwisun’!
[TRANSLATION NOTES] (Note *1) Daesung meant as in “better to work when I have work” vs. if he runs out of work in the future, which is why the MC said “let’s not talk about that,” as in, let’s not think about a bleak future even existing. hahahaha Oh Dae (/_^;;)
[Trans][Article] Mnavi – Kansai Free Paper D-LITE Interview
Finally finished!! (^o^) This took forever… but there are some quotes in this interview that I think are touching and really exemplifies the warm shining aura that is unique to our dear Daesungie. I hope some of those words can reach more Daesung fans. ^^

Q1. Congratulations on the release of your album, D’slove. Can you tell us what the strong points are? DS: Thank you. As a solo artist, this is my second album but this “D’slove” is my first original album. My last work was a J-POP cover album was titled “D’scover” (D-LITE’scover), so I had planned on calling it “D’s~~~” from the beginning. Then, (we) decided on an overall theme of “love” for this album and titled the album, “D’slove” and started production from there. I think there are more love songs in this world than we can count. Although these are just a fraction of those songs, in this album, I tried expressing the different shapes and forms of love I have felt in my own way. The happiness and sadness of loving…. the pain… I hope you can feel these emotions through this work.
Q2. Since it’s your first original album, is there anything you did differently compared to your last (cover) album? DS: With my last cover album, I was worried about destroying the feelings and emotions associated with the original songs while I was adding my interpretations of the songs, because the original songs must hold many different memories (to the listeners). Since it was my first original album, I felt a lot of pressure wondering how my fans, BIGBANG fans, and Japanese listeners would think of my music. But, since I was able to take part in every aspect of this album and all of the songs are my originals created from scratch, even as I was in the process of making it, I couldn’t wait to let everyone hear my music. On the other hand, it’s my first time to release an original album so I’m nervous to hear what everyone will say about it… but I will be happy if my heart and listeners’ hearts can become one through this album.
Q3. Your single songs, “Rainy Rainy,” “Samete Nemure,” “Try Smiling,” and “Look At Me Gwisoon” were released on June 11 as a commemoration of your “D-LITE Dlive 2014 in Japan ~D’slove~” tour and have already garnered great attention. You also performed them at your concerts and as soon as the melody started to play, fans cheered as one but how did D-LITE-san feel about it? DS: I feel relieved every time I hear fans’ cheers. When I see fans singing along, crying, smiling and watching over me, I realize everyone has accepted my music into their (hearts) and I become very emotional as well.
Q4. Including the 4 songs mentioned earlier, all 10 songs were recorded in Japanese. Did you have a basis for choosing the songs for this album? DS: I chose the songs I wanted to sing, based on my first impression of the song, regardless of genre. I think you can listen to a variety of genres through this album. The one factor I considered (while making this album) was (choosing songs that had) a “rock” feeling. This was important.
Q5. Why did you consider rock as an important factor? DS: Actually, my music has roots in rock music.
Q6. I’m surprised. DS: I was influenced by my parents and naturally listened to trot (Korean traditional music) music, but with rock music, I researched a lot of foreign artists on my own, watching clips of live performances, and found myself immersing myself in it more and more. Amongst many of them, the artist that influenced me the most was QUEEN. When I listened to their music and watched their live performance clips, I was sincerely amazed, and felt their power and charisma that let me watch their performance over and over yet never get bored. Plus, since rock (music) is so upbeat, I thought I could also have fun while singing.
Q7. How was recording for this album? DS: Since I wrote the lyrics to a lot of the songs, when I sang recalling my past experiences and memories, I was able to naturally immerse myself in the world of music.
Q8. As you just mentioned, you worked on writing most of the lyrics in this album but were there any difficulties while writing the lyrics? DS: I didn’t really have any difficulties regarding the lyrics. Amongst the songs, I wrote “Rainy Rainy” at night in my dimly lit room with only one light and ended up with a very earnest result. Other than “Rainy Rainy,” we also recorded a song called “Dress.” These two songs were composed by the same person and as soon as I heard them, I instantly thought “I want to sing it in my voice!” – I felt they matched my “color.” There were already temporary lyrics with the melody but I really liked the original lyrics as well so I purposefully left those verses untouched and added my ‘image’ into the lyrics.
Q9. “Rainy Rainy” and “Dress” are songs entirely created in Japan, right? DS: Yes, they are songs made in Japan. If we didn’t come upon these two songs, the entire album may have been composed in Korea. “Rainy Rainy” is about the main character’s bittersweet feelings of not being able to get over someone even though the relationship has ended, so when I was singing it, I really felt the pain in my heart. I think listening to this song on a rainy day during this rainy season will make the song sink in even more. On the other hand, “Dress” is a very beautiful song and as soon as I heard the song, I could imagine myself singing this song live but the recording didn’t go as planned and I had a lot of difficulties especially with the pronunciation (of the Japanese lyrics). The lyrics are about being happy everyday just being with you, so please always stay by my side… I want to continue spending time with you.
Q10. By the way, when do you feel the happiest? DS: When I am performing live.
Q11. So you have a lot of happy days recently? DS: Yes. Just knowing, “I can sing today too~” makes me so happy and more than anything, to be able to spend time with fans through my music, through my voice, makes me so unbelievably happy.
Q12. In addition, “SHUT UP” is a powerful rock song that was written by BIGBANG’s member, G-DRAGON san, right? DS: Yes, G-DRAGON san wrote the lyrics for this song but I really like it. Since his personality is different, the lyrics also have an entirely different atmosphere. I think that aspect makes this album even more attractive (to listeners) and the melody matched my voice and my tone so it was really easy to sing. More than anything, “SHUT UP” is a phrase I can’t say directly but when it’s in the song, I can say it over and over so it felt so relieving… I’m really satisfied with it (laughs). It can relieve your stress and is a simply enjoyable song so I hope everyone will enjoy it together as well.
Q13. In addition, “Look at me, Gwisun” (written and composed by G-DRAGON san) is very impactful with unique and comical Japanese lyrics written by Hyadain (Maeyamada Kenichi) san. DS: This song was released in Korea in 2008 and during that time, I appeared in a lot of Korean variety TV shows so this song’s cheerful and energetic image was perfect for my character and I garnered a reputation as D-LITE = trot (traditional Korean music) singer. During my tour last year, I performed this song in Korean and my fans I were able to sing and dance and enjoy it together but I wanted everyone to understand the humor of this song even more so I sang it in Japanese this time. Hyadain san worked on the Japanese lyrics – I had the opportunity to meet him during a TV program recording so this (the lyrics) are a result of Hyadain san’s analysis of my character (laughs). I hope you will listen carefully to the lyrics too. Please sing and enjoy it with everyone at karaoke and at dinner party events.
Q14. We ask this question to everyone in this July issue. What do you think of when you hear “Summer is…”? DS: Honestly, I’m not fond of summer at all. The reason is because I sweat (laughs). I love fruits and when I think of summer, I think of ‘watermelon.’ I ate it a few days ago but the watermelon was delicious as always!
Q15. You’re working on a wide range of projects, but can you tell us your goals for the future? DS: This is entirely a personal (goal) but I want to try bungee jumping! I think it’ll require some time for me to mentally prepare until I jump though (laughs). I want to try it one day!
Q16. You’re going to perform live in Osaka on July 26 and July 27! Can you give us a word or two on it? DS: I say this every time on stage as well but I feel that I, myself, have grown as I spend more time with all of my fans. Right now I’m just focusing on successfully completing this tour… I will focus and work hard until the end.
Q15. A message to the fans reading this— DS: I just want a lot of people to listen to “D’slove.” Although it is mostly composed of sad love songs, the sound (melody) is not dark and I think you can feel a strength or warmth that emanates from the inside. That’s because I hope to become one with everyone and understand one another through music. When I am recording, I feel as if I am communicating with everyone and I worked (on the album while) feeling this moment. Then, at the tour’s final concerts in Osaka on July 26 and July 27, I hope to actually communicate with everyone and become one with you all. I don’t know how much I can share regarding my new songs from this album, but I want to create an opportunity to sing them in front of everyone soon and if I can share my feelings with you all through “D’slove” where I have packed in my emotions and love, I will be happy. Please continue to look forward to my work in the future.

I uploaded this on Twitter before but realized I didn’t upload it on Tumblr so here it is ^^;; Sorry it’s out of order from my last D’slove final concert post… I just wanna put everything here~~~~ ———————————————————————- Daesung’s voice cracked a few times today during”I love you” but he kept singing with all his heart and energy, it was hard to not tear up watching him… I just felt the need to start singing along with him when his voice faltered… but he kept going and his voice was so strong… His voice only got better as the concert went on and I kept wondering how he could manage to belt out such a deep and powerful voice when he has a cold, and I guess he wondered the same thing because he also said he didn’t know how he was singing right now. He just believes he could keep singing because of all the energy he received from fans…. He kept saying “thank you” over and over….
I was a bit surprised he didn’t mention his cold for the first half of the concert. I thought maybe it was him trying not to make an excuse for his voice and to put out his best no matter the condition. But then during his longer MC where he explains his past and profession, he talked about how, yesterday, his voice was not functioning properly. He said although yesterday he had trouble with his voice, he had so much fun and he was so happy ;ω; He was worried yesterday when his thought he lost his voice but he was more worried this morning because he feared his cold had gotten worse. He keeps saying his stage is not his solo performance but a stage that is created with his 3D band and his fans…. and he emphasized this point so much today and bowed so many times to the fans and to his band. He said he hopes he can have a relationship with his fans like a old friend who you don’t always see, but you are always with them and have a place for them in your heart…. and even if you don’t see each other all the time, you’re always connected…. and when you meet again, it’s like old friends meeting up…. ;____;♡

MC: BIGBANG’s vocal and maybe you can say, “funny guy” role, D-LITE san!
DS: Nice to meet you, I’m D-LITE!
MC: There are many fans who wanted to see you and rushed to the studio today…
DS: (laughs) Yes I see~
MC: So many people today!
DS: (laughs) Yes, thank you~
MC: Firstly, congratulations on finishing your tour. (*Note 1)
DS: Thank you!
MC: Please tell me more about your tour later.
MC: D-LITE san has the image as the vocal of BIGBANG, of course, but also I imagine D-LITE to have a comical side and have funny stories and reactions, but do you regularly watch Japanese variety TV shows?
DS: Ahh… But usually I have a dark personality.
DS: mm.. I listen to music by myself in my room…
MC: So your regular life style and your work style is…
DS: Completely opposite, yeah~
MC: Oh~ really? Is that easier for you?
DS: Yes, I feel comfortable being alone.
MC: I heard you’re friends with some Japanese comedians too?
DS: Ah~ yes, with Saito-san from Jungle Pocket (That’s the comedian duo’s stage name)
MC: Oh! You’re good friends with Saito-san from Jungle Pocket?
DS: (laughs) Yeah! We’ve been on the same TV show together a many times and he even comes to my concerts.
MC: Really~! D-LITE san has connections with such comedians like Jungle Pocket’s Saito-san.. Next we will introduce such D-LITE san’s profile.
MC: D-LITE san has a strong falsetto voice and has a characteristically soulful voice with a wide range as the vocal in BIGBANG. Starting in 2008, he started appearing on variety TV shows as a regular staff and even preformed in musicals. In 2008 he started his solo career and released his cover album D’scover last year in February, and released his first original album, D’slove on the 16th of this month. Congratulations!
DS: Thank you!
MC: cause there’s a large gallery (crowd) today haha
DS: (laughs) True
MC: On July 16, you released your first original album, D’slove. Compared to your previous first album which was entirely composed of J-POP cover songs, this album is composed entirely of love songs, right?
DS: mm.. Yes. The keyword is love - ai (“love” in Japanese) - right? I wanted to express to many sides to love that I had experienced until now.
MC: Various sides to love?
MC: Oh I see~ As the “funny guy” character, was there a gap you felt between your image and the you singing these love songs so seriously?
DS: Gap? No, there’s no gap~ For me, variety shows, singing, I think I can do all of those things because I have love in my heart.
MC: Oh, I see. So even with variety shows…
DS: ..there’s love. Owaraiiii. Owar-aaaiiiii. Aaaiiii (laughs at his own dorky joke) I’m sorry. (*Note 2)
MC: (laughs) I see! It’s ok, you even include these Japanese jokes (in your interviews) - thank you! You’re the one that chose to sing all love songs, right?
DS: Yes~ mm.. In this album I wanted to sing songs about “love.”
MC: Why did you want to sing songs about “love”?
DS: mm yea because I really think the feeling of love is so strong and I think it’s the emotion that has the most number of “sides” to it.
MC: Ah~ because it’s that much of a complicated (emotion).
DS: mmm yes. Of course there’s a lot of happy sides, and really sad sides… there’s a wide range (of feelings associated with “love”)
MC: So if you listen to this album, you can experience the love that D-LITE san has felt up until now..?
MC: Ah~ it’s a must listen. And song number 10 - I LOVE YOU - this was a cover collaboration with violinist, Hakase Taro-san, right?
DS: mm, yes, that’s true~
MC: How was the collaboration with Hakase Taro-san?
DS: Of course, I was so happy! Hakase Taro-san’s personality is so nice and so outgoing and… (laughing) he’s here right? (laughs) by the way (laughs)
MC: (laughs) Ahh! You mean our AD (associate director?) Mutto (his name?) right? Haha Yeah his hairstyle is a bit reminiscent of Hakase-san’s hair, huh?
DS: (to said AD) It’s been a while~! (laughs)
DS: mmm yes I was truly happy.
MC: Wow I see~ Did you two talk a lot about music?
DS: mmm yes but since we didn’t have a lot of time, we couldn’t talk a lot but we communicated through his performance and my voice.
MC: Wow so cool. I heard you worked on producing the entire album, but was it difficult?
DS: Ah yeah but I didn’t mean to produce the entire album from the beginning – it just sort of ended up that way.
MC: Oh really!? You didn’t set out on producing the entire album? It just happened?
DS: Yes, I had an image for each of the songs and talked about it while making the album, so people said I produced it… but I’m embarrassed to be called a ‘producer.’
MC: (laughs) You’re embarrassed? Really?
DS: (laughs) Yes
MC: There’s also a DVD right?
DS: mm, yes
MC: There are many clips of you enjoying your time off in Sapporo, in Sapporo, Hokkaido, but when did you film it?
DS: In March..? Yes in March of this year.
MC: You went dog sledding..?
DS: Yesss dog sledding~
MC: …and you went culring..?
DS: Yess curlinggg
MC: …and as a reward for the curling, you were eating a spectacular crab~
DS: Yesss I ate all of it (laughs)
MC: You ate all of it!?
DS: Of course!!
MC: Wowww! Was it good?
DS: Yes of course it was good~
MC: And you went fishing?
DS: Yes.. fishing… was a little too hard.
MC: Do you go fishing often?
DS: Noo~ not at all, I can’t touch them. I can’t touch fish.
MC: Oh you can’t touch it! Oh you dislike fish?
DS: Yes, super dislike (laughs)
MC: But you like to eat it..?
DS: Yes! I want to eat all of it!!
MC: What kind of food do you like?
DS: I like a lot of foods but meat! Seafood! Vegetables! Fruits!
MC: That’s the best balance!
MC: (laughs) Ok, so let’s listen to one song from this album, D’slove. Which song should we play?
DS: I sang this song at my concerts too but it had a really great reaction and has an up-tune beat. “Nalba Gwisoon” – please listen.
Look At Me Gwisoon plays
MC: We just played “Nalba Gwisoon” from D-LITE san’s album, D’slove. This is Ikebe Ai on FM79.5 Monaka with BIGBANG’s vocal D-LITE as a guest. Thank you for continuing to be here with us.
DS: Thank you. (*Note 3)
MC: With your first original solo album, you went on a national tour covering all 8 major cities, with 15 performances for your solo arena tour… but is it really different to tour together as BIGBANG and to tour as a solo artist?
DS: It’s entirely different – the music and the atmospheres are entirely different.
MC: How is the atmosphere different?
DS: BIGBANG has a strong image of creating a ‘show’ and making a great performance but with my concert, we all sing together and make the atmosphere together. mm
MC: Ahh… since the stage and the numbers in the audience are entirely different, do you also spend time differently backstage and do you have any different feelings up until the live performance?
DS: Before the real performance, mmm yeah I’m alone backstage and… I used to be lonely in the beginning but now.. it’s actually more comfortable. hahahaha
MC: You don’t have to consider the other members (laughs)
DS: But yes… really.. hmm… I miss them! hahahaha
MC: (laughs) Everyone becomes lonely when they’re alone, right? haha During your tour, what do you do when you have free time?
DS: Honestly, I don’t do anything but I go to the gym in the hotel and go eat something delicious.
MC: Ahhh so you also work out and keep your figure even during your free time, yes?
MC: We received a gift from D-LITE san for you, our Monaka-listeners! (claps) Can D-LITE san explain the gifts?
DS: Yes! It’s my merchandise – the bag, T-shirt, and towel.
MC: All of these items will be given as a set to 1 person?
DS: Yes! To 1 person!
MC: Thank you so much!! This is the super popular one right!?
DS: Uhh.. I don’t think it’s really that popular. (Dae & MC laughs) Really. Yes it’s popular (laughs) Thank you.
MC: Really, the bag is big and the fabric is so soft and squishy and feels nice.. and the design is super cute! It stands out even from afar!
DS: That’s true… it.. stands… out… I don’t know if it’s a good thing or not though (laughs)
MC: Nah, it’s great~! We have taken a photo of the merchandise and posted it on the blog, so please check it out! For those who wish to apply, please apply from the Monaka website’s form and apply with your address, name, and phone number. Next, here is news from D-LITE san!
DS: Yes! On August 29, my group, BIGBANG, will perform at a-nation! It’s been a while for me (to perform as BIGBANG) but I think it will be a really great stage~! Let’s enjoy it together~
MC: Everyone, please attend~ Please check BIGBANG’s official website for details. Our time is almost up but before we end, can we receive a message from D-LITE san to our listeners tuning in today?
DS: Yes! Everyone, I am always thankful (to you all) and thank you, always. And there are many plans as BIGBANG and as D-LITE so please continue to support us! Thank you!
MC: Thank you! Lastly, we will part while listening to one more song from D-LITE san. Today’s guest was the vocal from BIGBANG, D-LITE san! Thank you D-LITE san!
DS: Thank you!
MC: D-LITE san, can you introduce the last song?
DS: Yes, everyone, the song is SHUT UP. Please listen~
Shut Up plays
[TRANSLATION NOTES] (*Note 1) Otsukaresama deshita = it’s a saying to mean “good job” or “you worked hard” that’s difficult to directly translate into English
(*Note 2) “Owarai” = “Variety TV” in Japanese and “ai” = “love” in Japanese.
(*Note 3) They say “Yoroshiku onegai shimasu” which is roughly translated into “Nice to work with you” and is a commonly said phrase before beginning working with another person.
Honestly it’s hard to believe D’slove has ended. After attending 7 concerts, coming home and realizing I can fully unpack my D’slove-tour-backpack, light stick and all, feels a little weird. I still have the buzzed feeling you get after a night of mildly-heavy drinking where you’re not really sure where you are or what you’re supposed to be doing. I have written a very very concise totally my-point-of-view highlights of 7/26 & 7/27 concerts and added my opinion/thoughts regarding this year’s D’slove concerts as a whole, at the bottom. It’s a bit long so please bear with me. Thanks for reading. :)
★Saturday, 7/26 Highlights ①Seungri came to the show but left midway DS: …and today VI came! (points to his upper right) Fans: !?!?! *searching that area* DS: ..oh did he leave already? Oh ok he left already~! VI is quite busy recently but he made time to come see me. You all can check later on his Twitter.. and Instagram you know it, right? We took a picture with all the goods earlier backstage… his expression changed the instant we finished taking the photo - he had a “I have completed my mission” face. Is that why he came? haha But he is really busy lately~
②Daesung forgot CEO was there during the concert DS: Let’s thank the CEO who made this concert possible!! (points to his upper left straight up in the air) This way is towards Tokyo! Let’s give a big round of applause to the CEO in Tokyo!! Fans: *huge applause* Daesung is looking towards a part of the audience and starts to bend over laughing DS: Ahh!! I forgot… CEO is here today! hahaha Sorry, let’s give a big round of applause to the CEO who is here today, there! (points to his upper right towards the 2nd floor)
③Daesung and a new fanboy After Daesung sings “Rainy Rainy” and “Samete Nemure,” Daesung always asks who just heard this song for the first time. He picks someone from the crowd and asks them what they thought of the songs. On Saturday he chose a person from the crowd and said DS: When I asked whose first time it was to hear this song, this person shot his hand up in the air first thing, but as soon as he saw other people weren’t raising their hands, he became wary.. but it’s ok! Please be proud!! Raise your hand up high, you are my future!! (The person who raised his hand was a young boy) DS: What did you think of the new songs? Boy: I liked them!! (inaudible to Daesung) DS: ?? Boy: I LIKED THEM!! DS: *grins that sort of forced grin lol* Ahhh thank you!!
*Daesung has successfully earned a new fanboy*
④Digital Sound Master (Manipulator) Morio-san’s introduction Daesung introduces the band then Morio-san (I think that’s his name). Morio-san is wearing a mask that’s a photo of Daesung like he did at Nagoya(?) but when he takes it off, he’s wearing the zigzag-patterned mask (from the merchandise). Then he starts to play the recorded sounds of Daesung’s voice from the D-mask-de-Pon! parody video from the merchandise intro clip and starts DJ-ing with Daesung’s high pitched “female” voice. Daesung cracks up and is rolling on the floor laughing. DS: wow~ hahahaha Thank you! Let’s give a big round of applause to Morio-san~~
★Sunday, 7/27 Highlights ①Fan interactions - “today’s baby” As all Dae-stans know, Daesung likes to pick out a “baby” (kid) in each of his concerts and talk to them during MC. He even referred to the kid he chose today as “today’s baby.” haha DS: What’s your name~? Child (and his mom): Light! DS: (looks so surprised) Really..!? Really your name is Light!? Child & mom: *nods to say yes* DS: Waa~~ so great!! I’m moved!! How old are you? (Mom is talking to the kid but they’re taking a while…) DS: Oh you’re seven? (He didn’t wait for a response so fans laugh) DS: Your eyes are so big even though you’re only seven~!! DS: and you’re dressed so fashionably~ what’s your dream? (The kid wore a cap backwards on his head, had dark curly hair and big eyes, a little tan skin, wore a black netting-like fabric jacket that was slightly see-through with stars on his shoulders..I think, camouflage (I think) patterned pants) Child: BIGBANG~! DS: Oh!! really..!? Wowww.. ok so I guess since I’m around 25 or 26 (fans laugh at this.. ‘around’?? xD) … then we can just get the oldest member to retire then you can join! (fans laughing) Oh who’s the oldest member..? Oh is it TOP? I guess it’s TOP~ haha (fans dying from laughing)
②Fanboy screams before a ballad There are some fans who scream “Daesung~!!!” between songs but on the final day, there seemed to be more people who screamed than usual. In particular, there was a fanboy (man?) who yelled “DAEESUNGGGG!!!!” twice, once literally right before Daesung started singing “Aitakute Ima” that some fans laughed right before Daesung started to sing. After he sang “Aitakute Ima” and “Try Smiling,” he mentioned the screaming in his MC. DS: There are a lot of male fans here today, hm? Right before the ballad… Aitakute Ima..? I heard a guy fan yell ‘DAEEEESSSUUUUNNGGGGGGGGGG!!!’ from over here (wavers toward the audience to his left) Ahh yes thank you~ (The entire section near where the fanboy was pointed towards this person to show Daesung, but Daesung didn’t notice… ^^;;)
③Daesung doesn’t know “Frozen” too well… A really enthusiastic guy fan in the first row arena near the substage was screaming to Joyful when Dae asked all guy fans to sing “Joyful” part. He turned to him and said DS: When I say all guys sing, I mean ‘sing’ not ‘scream as loud as you can’~ (rofl cause this guy really was soo energetic he was bouncing off the walls excited haha) But ok I’ll give you water… but you received water yesterday, right? Yes yes I remember — so I’ll give it to the guy next to you (hands water to the guy next to him). (Then another guy fan in the back puts a sign up front for Daesung to read) DS: Oh, you want to trade water..? This is new~ Ok sure. (Daesung hands him a water bottle and the guy hands back a water bottle. Daesung examines this water bottle with squinty eyes as if he’s a old person with bad eyesight lol) The bottle has a printed picture of Elsa and Anna from Disney’s movie, “Frozen.” Dae turns it to the side with Elsa and… DS: Let it goooo Let it goooo (turns the bottle to Anna and in a higher pitched voice) Let it goo! Let it goo! …oh wait, is it the other way around? (Turns to Anna and in a lower voice) Let it gooo Let it goooo (Turns to Elsa and in a higher voice) Let it goo!! Let it goo!! …wait maybe I had it right (Turns to Elsa) Let it goooo let it gooo (turns to Anna and in a higher pitched voice) Let it GOOO Let it GOOO
…..ANNA DIDN’T SING “LET IT GO” BUT IT’S OK DAE, WE STILL LOVE YOU♡ lolololol I’m sorry, I just had to point out that he failed all 3 times.
The funny thing about Daesung’s concerts is that, even if I think I’m going to cry or I’m going to have an emotional breakdown before the concert, I will never know what kind of reaction I will come out with until the actual concert starts.
I became a Dae-stan after I was sincerely moved by Daesung’s performance of “Baby Don’t Cry” during BigShow 2011 and have yearned to see him perform it live, ever since. I thought I had lost all hope of this wish when he came out with the Japanese version of this song, since I really wanted to see the Korean version of the song. However, with Saturday’s performance of “Baby Don’t Cry,” he realized every hope and wish I could’ve had for this song and more — the energy he poured into every note, the strength with which he pulled the lyrics out of his heart, the bitter-sweet emotion he strained into his facial expressions, the way his muscles tensed to release everything he had into this one song…. it was more than I could have ever asked for. I’m not sure how I managed to stay standing during that performance but all I could think behind the tears was ‘thank you thank you thank you.’ The words he spoke after the melody ended still rings clearly in my head —
"Ah… I am the happiest when I am singing."
It is moments like this that I feel Daesung and his fans are truly connected as one.
To me, Daesung is not an angel or some kind of God-like existence — he is just another human being. That’s why sometimes I get overly concerned when he pushes himself too hard when he has a cold and is clearly not well, or get worried that something is going to happen to him… but at the same time, I think that’s why he is such a motivational figure in my life. To realize that there is such a human being who can love and be loved as much as he, and to see how much his warm personality influences those around him — the band members, staff, his fans — makes me want to achieve more as a human being, as well.
Daesung continually said “This tour is a tour about giving my love to you all” during his performances, and I really think he accomplished this mission. At every stage I attended, his love emanated from him and filled the entire venue… he is he light in the dark, and it just makes you feel like you want to stay and be touched by his light forever. He makes us so happy that all I want in the end, is for him to stay happy. I have always hoped that one day he can find someone he loves who will love him back just as much if not more, and be happily married (and hopefully end up with little Daesungies who can maybe? attend Daecon with Daesung..!? XD), but what was interesting, was after this tour, I felt myself wanting to be able to love another person enough to get married as well. After receiving so much love from Daesung, I felt myself wanting to be able to mature into someone who can care just as deeply for another person.
I already mentioned before that Daesung seemed to have become so much more confident than his solo tour last year, but after having watched Daesung for the past 1.5 months, I feel like he has become even stronger and it seems like, happier, through D’slove. In addition, after participating in D’slove, I felt as though I had also gained hope for myself. A lot of things happened during this tour — Daesung got a cold and his voice didn’t perform as well at Tokyo, his voice cracked on several occasions, he forgot the lyrics and had to start over during one song, his ear monitor malfunctioned on two separate occasions, his band messed up a few times (hahaha), his fans interrupted him during MC (^^;), I mean this list could go on and on… but those things are so insignificant compared to how much he did accomplish, and the best part is, he knows it at well. He was able to push on despite the few mistakes and keep going, and I guess that’s what gave me the confidence to re-challenge the things in my life that have gone unattended, and to get up again.
This has gotten too long, but this D’slove Tour has really impacted the way I feel about my day-to-day activities more so than I thought it would. Honestly it has been one emotionally and physically exhausting ride but every penny spent, every bucket of sweat lost, every tear cried, every mis-happening and shit-show I had, every all-nighter, every moment of panic (I had a lot) was worth it.
D’slove has ended but Daesung’s solo career is fully on the rise and his voice will continue to touch listeners’ hearts around the world. ^^
Thank you Daesung, thank you 3D band members, thank you VIPs, to everyone I met, for the happiest 1.5 months ever.
Thank you Daesung, for always giving me the energy, hope, and love I need to keep going. I will always stay by your side. Can’t wait for your plans for the fall~!! (^^)b

Everyone listening to Bunkan Housou, and to the radio host, Sone-san, how are you? It’s D-LITE! The last time I went on Sone-san’s radio program was in August, last year – it’s already been a year since then~Are you doing well? I’m doing well! Last year and this year as well, I’ve been touring around the country, and of course eating delicious food. It’s really fun (laughs). Ahh.. ah.. at Nagoya, there was a moment when I forgot the lyrics and I was worried and couldn’t sing for about 5 seconds. Then I re-sang it from the beginning. Last year was my first solo concert (tour) but this year there were a lot of fans who came this year and last year so they really knew my style so I feel like it became more fun and passionate. I think that’s the biggest difference from last year and this year… mm.. I think it’s the best thing. So this D-LITE’s new album is out! D’slove! In stores on July 16! It is 10 songs, including songs that were released last year like “I LOVE YOU” and those that were released this year in June such as “Rainy Rainy.” The DVD includes the music video and many scenes of me during my trip to Hokkaido. Please check out my first original album, D’slove! Sone-san, I will definitely see you again! Bye-bye, I am D-LITE!

Yume no Tsubomi - Remioromen Lyrics: Ryota Fujimaki (of Remioromen)
A wind blew at the end of winter Strangely, with the warmth I felt like crying Your smile was always my encouragement That warmth, that radiance How they connect to my heart Am I living in the present moment?
The flower bud of my dreams Will you turn into a flower and bloom? A dream as if I was buried in the heart of time A light that extends into spring
Like a warm day of misunderstandings The park trees were growing towards the sky Thus, I walk with you Hand in hand, under the sunlight
There are days were things don’t go well But even in the scarce light filtering through the leaves I can still feel the same sun
Even if it’s a dream where I’m covered in snow I will keep going your way I believe I will go walking this road So as not to lose my way
Passing each other, embracing It snowed and I waited for spring And now I understand that the real dream is always In the smile of your loved one
The flower bud of my dreams Will you turn into a flower and bloom? My beloved I want to protect your happiness Strongly, gently, the real dream is always Inside your smile
Flower bud Turn into a flower and radiate Engulfed in the fragrance of spring
Where to begin. Last Saturday, June 21, 2014, I went to Daesung’s solo concert in Kobe. It was the first solo concert for his 2nd solo tour that I went to, so needless to say it was a emotional in a lot of ways. When I went to Nihonbudokan (Tokyo) Concert for his solo tour last year, although it was incredibly emotional, moving, and in so many ways a wonderful live performance, it wasn’t nearly as heart-wrenchingly emotional as last Saturday’s concert. I think it has a lot to do with the fact that this time around, it was his second tour, so there were a lot of memories carried from his first tour that poured themselves back into this year’s stage, which resulted in a emotional train wreck for a lot of Daesung-stans. haha
When the music started and the lights dimmed, everyone quickly rose with their light sticks and screams and cheers began. As with every BIGBANG concert and their solo concerts, when the member appears, the questions of “am I really here breathing the same air as them?!” and “HE’S REALLY THERE!!!! RIGHT THERE!!!!” (ok, that’s not a question) run through my brain for a split second before I’m entranced in Daesung’s voice. I’m not sure if it was because of his new 6:4 hairstyle or because I hadn’t seen him since January, but he felt a little distant. Soon after he sang “Sunny Hill,” though, I felt like I had returned to the Daesung I knew.
After around 3 songs a short movie clip of “How Daesung spends his free time in Hokkaido (preview)” started to play. The movie showed Daesung playing in the snow, making a snowman, throwing things at said snowman, making snow angels, smiling, laughing, being silly with the staff… and suddenly he says “I’m so happy I became a singer.” His new song “Rainy Rainy” plays softly in the background as scene after scene of his dearest smile, his pure laugh, his happiest eye smiles when he is talking about his goals, his music… honestly I can’t remember half the things he said because I was too busy bawling my eyes out during this entire movie. All I remember is I started to cry within the first few seconds just from seeing his smiles because all I could think about is how hard he has worked, how much effort he has put into his music, his stage, his performances, and how he has achieved this second tour and is able to come back to us with a new album as well, albeit it being mostly a cover album. And then that one sentence - “I’m so happy I became a singer.” If you could just see his face when he said this - it was, simply put, truthfully happy. It wasn’t one of those scripted lines the TV directors shove into their mouths - it was a sincere just-sorta-fell-out-of-my-head sentences that happen when you’re least aware. I think I wasn’t the only one there who felt incredibly thankful and happy to have him here as a singer as well.
So after I cried all my make-up off after maybe 30 min into the concert, the rest of the concert was a continuation of this emotional roller coaster. I was laughing and jumping with “Joyful” and “Look At Me Gwisoon,” chanting his name with “WINGS,” crying and trying so hard not to fall over from weak knees at “Yume no Tsubomi” and “Utaitai no Ballad,” and then laughing my head off at his “How to use the merchandise” video. (Highly recommend looking up fancams for this video - I think there are some. haha)
When he started off the concert, it seemed he was having trouble with his voice and it honestly sounded like he needed to clear his throat, even during the MC right after the first song. However, he soon recovered and sounded just as amazing, if not better, than ever.
He sang “Furui Nikki” by Akiko Wada, a very historically famous Japanese singer known for enka (Japanese trot music). She is considered a “boss” in the music industry and is all over Japanese TV and more, so it is kind of a big deal that he chose her song, haha. It’s also very unlike anything BIGBANG or the other members of BIGBANG would select, which I think is an interesting characteristic of Daesung. He seems to comply so well when it comes to rules, things to do/not to do, following elders’ (GD’s :P) orders, but there are select “things” he will push through with his ‘color’ — like him becoming a singer against his parents’ request, and with his solo music - challenging a genre that otherwise probably wouldn’t get much attention in the Kpop industry. I think it’s part of what makes him so special… but I’m going off on a huge tangent. I don’t listen to enka all too often but I don’t dislike it like a lot of young Japanese people and I think it can be appreciated for it’s strong musical qualities, but when Daesung sang “Furui Nikki,” it was different from regular enka. It was much more fun and pop-like. It was still like the original song but rearranged so it was easy to jump and sing along with him and the music.
"Yume no Tsubomi" has been one of my favorite songs out of Daesung’s solo album last year as well, but when I heard it on Saturday, the words felt as if they were more meaningful than the last time I heard him sing it live. I heard every syllable, every word sinking into my skin and touching my heart in a way that I didn’t feel as strongly last year. It made me re-realize how much the time and place you listen to a song changes the meaning of the lyrics entirely, even though the words haven’t changed. I think this past year impacted the way he sang it, and my personal experience within this past year changed the way I heard it. Every song he sings must "taste" different for every person, but I think this song in particular hit a note close to home for many listeners in every venue he’s sung at so far. The lyrics are so close to home…
"Your smile always cheered me up Your warmness, your shining aura How many times did I tie it to my heart and continue to live ‘today’ “
-From “Yume no Tsubomi” Lyrics by Fujimaki Ryota of Remioromen Translated by mikan36
Daesung mentioned that last year’s tour was D’scover as he discovered… and this year was D’slove as he was giving back love to fans…. and it felt just that way. It wasn’t just about the love, though. It felt like a ‘thank you’ and a ‘you’ve worked hard’ and a pat on the back, and a ‘we got through this together’ and a tour to appreciate him coming this far. It was a tour that, at the end of this seastorm of emotions and wiping tears with my slogan (sorry >_>) and hiding my face with my fan board, I felt like I can always trust him to be the Kang Daesung that we love, and that I would follow him wherever, until whenever…
Thank you, Daesung. Thank you.
[Edit] I was saying this to a friend, but I really wish we could make a charity fund to send Daesung-fans who have never been to Daesung’s solo concert, to see Dae live. There is absolutely no comparison to seeing him, hearing him, and feeling him in the atmosphere with other fans who love him just as much as you. I will be hella broke by the end of his tour, but I know every penny (or rather, yen) will be worth it. It’s just that kind of a tour.
I transcribed the Japanese lyrics from listening to the song, then translated it into English, so there may be a word or two off, but the meaning shouldn’t change. Please credit me if you copy/use it anywhere public~ (^^)

D-LITE - Rainy Rainy [ENGLISH LYRICS] (Please Note: NOT official lyrics!!)
If love continues Until you accept that it has ended I am still left behind in my memories I still felt your presence, Not realizing that I’m the only one Whose feelings hadn’t changed When we crossed paths.
Beyond the rain drops that tap on the window The place we used to go together Brings tears to my eyes As they blur and disappear (The tears) fall warmly
Oh rainy rainy x3
(I) can’t accept the loneliness I can’t even tear away from my memory of you The busy time Makes my heart feel tightened As you saw me, always trying to laugh off The beginning of the End, What went through your mind?
Beyond the rain drops that tap on the window The place we used to go together Brings tears to my eyes As they blur and disappear Only the sweet sound keeps resonating
I’m alone in the room I remember the days we spent together Sweet memories The more I remember The more (tears) warmly fall
